Zuljana Islam at Crossroads

zuljana

Imam Hussain was the grandson of the Holy Prophet of Islam. After the passing away of the Prophet , there was a clamouring of power , though the Holy Prophet had inadvertently mentioned at Ghadir Qum Man Kunto Moula Ali Fazhaiun Moula , simply translated it meant give Ali the same respect as you give me.

However on his death , there was a political conspiracy, hatched in such a way that Ali lost his right to the Caliphate. Abubaker became the First Caliph of Islam. The followers of Ali could not take the disparage so a non temporal, spiritual post came into being called Imamat. Ali was the first Imaam..All the Imams died tragic death. The 12th Imam for the Shias is Hidden he is known as the Mahdi or Al Muntazar or Imam e Zamana .This is the irrevocable difference between Shias and Sunnis who form the majority Islamic sect. The Shia are about 15% scatterd in some countries but a majority in Iraq Iran Azaerbaijan.

Imam Hussain was asked to pay allegiance to the Caliph of his time Yazid of the Ummayad Caliphate, Hussain declined as Yazid was anti Islam corrupt and a despot. A battle took place between the warriors of Yazids army led by Shimr.. Imam Hussains 72 warriors, this was one of the most barbaric chapters of Islam, where not even a six month child of the imam was spared.Ali Asghar was shot down by an arrow with which you shoot wild life Water was blocked at the Euphrates, everyone was killed save a surviving sickly son of the Imam known as Sajjad or Zainul Abedin the ladies and the indomitable sister of the Imam , Bibi Zainab , a four year daughter Bibi Sakina . Imam Hussain was shot down by arrows, Zuljana his faithful steed taking the brunt of the attack, after that Shimr decapitated the Imams head , their clothes belongings looted, bodies trampled by horses, their head put up on spears, women children enslaved, taken to Damascus to the court of Yazid..

This was the beginning of Jehadi terrorism or Yazidiyat , in the name of Allah, this was the treatment meted out to the Holy Prophets family. In India when Alexandra conquered Porus, Alexandra asked him what treatment should I mete out to you..or how should I treat you. Porus replied a treatment befitting a King..this is Indian thought, hospitabilty to which Imam Hussain was enamoured, when he was stopped at Karbala before the carnage and genocide he told the Yazidi forces to allow him to go to Hindustan , where he said I know there are no Muslims, but yes there are human beings..he was talking of a land that belonged to Brahma Vishnu Mahadev..

So Moharam is not just about shedding blood , cutting foreheads , self flagellation, its about human dignity defying death ,upholding the principles of Truth..

Zuljana a four legged animal symbolises faithfulness that was lacking among the Yazidi forces , they knew the enemy they had come to crush was the grandson of the Holy Prophet but they impotently kept mum, like todays rulers Muftis , Islamic heads of State who watch the terror inflicted on Humanity, but have no balls to stand up collectively and say.. Stop this Carnage. This is not the Islam preached by the Holy Prophet..or his Imams.

This is the honest truth as I see it , Islam is at crossroads , it is a crusade not between the Cross or the Crescent , it is a crusade of Hate ,yes Muslims are bent on destroying Islam, Muslims love killing Muslims.. This is a picture of Zuljana at a Moharam Juloos.Every Juloos is incomplete without the Zuljana.

Today Islam has been politicised for personal gains , by vested interests, this mornings paper talked of a threat to India by a subsidiary of Al Qaeda called Qaeede Hind..this is criminalisation of a spirtual thought of Islam , this is satanism , the Shia shedding blood is called Heresy, the Puritanical Muslim killing Humanity is called Jehad.. For once I am shocked at the moderation of my Intelligence.. Yes I would rather be a Shia cutting myself up…shedding my own blood than asking little kids to decapitate Journalist heads, a dead Pearl of Wisdom..

Killers of Imam Husain (a.s.): A Historical Perspective

 Al Muntazar

1. Yazid ibn Muawiyah

Without doubt, the biggest contributor to the shedding of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) blood and its main proponent was Yazid ibn Muawiyah. And that is not exactly surprising when we consider that Yazid is the one who inherited apostasy, tyranny and blasphemy from his father. He was the grandson of Abu Sufyan and the son of Muawiyah. The vicissitudes of time and his father’s political machinations played important roles in pivoting an unlikely Yazid to the highest religious position in the Islamic world. Yazid’s actions and words were unbecoming of a human being, let alone a Caliph of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.). His actions were so deplorable that they repelled everyone associated with him. Waaqedi narrates on the authority of Abdullah ibn Hanzalah - who enjoyed the epithet of Ghaseel al-Malaaekah (the one given the ritual bath by the angels) - page 11,

‘I swear by Allah, there came a time when we feared that stones would soon rain down upon us in Yazid’s reign. He was a man who did not even spare his own mother, daughters and sisters from his lecherous disposition. He drank wine freely and neglected praying (Namaz).’

(al-Sawaaeq al-Muhreqah by Ibn Hajar Makki p. 125, Egyptian edition)

2. Ubaydillah ibn Ziyaad

Another criminal who ranks high in the list of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) murderers is Ubaydillah ibn Ziyaad. He shares the position and status with Yazid in the perpetration of this heinous crime. He is the very person who Yazid has spoken of highly, as his treasured friend, helper, confidante and ardent supporter in the battlefield.

Ubaydillah’s disbelief, apostasy, infidelity and complete disregard for divine laws and edicts were not a secret. All and sundry in Kufa were aware of his disposition towards evil and falsehood. That is why Haani Ibn Urwah (r.a) tells Muslim ibn Aqeel (a.s.) ruefully (when the latter refused to kill Ubaydillah in a surprise attack):

‘By Allah, (you must know) that if you had killed him, (you would not have killed a Muslim), (rather) you would have killed a sinner, transgressor, apostate and rebel’.

(Tarikh-e-Tabari vol. 6, p. 204)

3. Umar ibn Sa’d

The third person who is directly responsible for the murder of Imam Husain (a.s.) is Umar ibn Sa’d. In fact, in Umar’s case, the association with this crime is most evident and the responsibility lies largely with him. His faith and religion are exposed with these couplets that he recited when Ibne Ziyaad short-listed him with the task of murdering Imam Husain (a.s.).

‘Should I let the opportunity to govern Ray (Suburb of Teheran, Iran) slip by, while it is my most ardent desire?

Or should I become accursed forever for killing Husain (a.s.)?’

‘The world is but a house of goodness and wealth.

‘Then the intelligent one never trades the wealth for debt.’

He then recites some more couplets, the essence of which is:

‘The people claim that Allah has created something called Paradise and likewise He has also created the Fire and Chastisement. If these people are true in their claims, then there is no problem. I intend to repent for my sin (of killing Imam Husain) within two years. However, if these people are proved wrong and there is no Paradise and Hell, then there is no absolutely no problem, for in that case we will have amassed a kingdom in this world whose bounties shall remain forever.’

These couplets clearly highlight the ridicule that Umar ibn Sa’d had for well-established Islamic beliefs regarding Paradise and Hell. If this was the condition of the governors and chiefs, then it is anyone’s guess as to how the commonality perceived Paradise and Hell! After all, the masses were deeply influenced by the views of the rulers. Calling theses governors as Muslims is akin to insulting to Islam. These are facts of history and there is no denying them. There is no question of debating whether these personalities were Sunnis or Shiites because a discussion on that can happen only after these personalities accept the fundamental Islamic principles of Paradise and Hell.

To which sect of Islam did the killers of Imam Husain (a.s.) belong to?

But the question remains that even if for argument’s sake we consider them as Muslims to which Islamic sect did the killers of Imam Husain (a.s.) belong to? To answer this question it is important to address the following queries:

a)       What was the basis of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) murder?

b)       The principles and teachings of which Islamic sect did the killers of Imam Husain (a.s.) embrace?

Once we answer these two questions, it should be fairly evident with which Islamic sect the murderers of Imam Husain (a.s.) were associated.

It is an undisputed fact of history that the only cause of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) assassination was the Emir of Syria, Yazid Ibn Muawiyah, demanding Imam’s (a.s.) explicit allegiance. Imam (a.s.) refused to give in to his demands and rejected his Caliphate and in the process endured the most telling hardships at the hands of Yazid and his cronies.

Ibne Hajar-e-Makki chronicles, “The Emir of Syria, Muawiyah Ibn Abi Sufyan, was blinded by the love for his son, Yazid. In order to appoint his son as the Emir after him, he undertook a huge campaign to extract the allegiance of all Muslims for his son. He employed all the wealth of Syria and Iraq and resorted to the dirtiest of tricks to buy the allegiance of Muslims. However, five persons remained firm in their commitment not to pay allegiance to Yazid. The foremost in this group was Husain Ibn Ali (a.s.) and the other four took a cue from him and also withdrew from paying allegiance.”

(Tatheerul Jinaan, A Commentary on the al-Sawaaeq al-Muhreqah, Old Egyptian Edition, p. 50)

Muawiyah died at the age of 75-80 years, in Rajab 60 A.H. Yazid ascended the throne. The Syrians paid their allegiance to him and accepted him as their Emir. He had all the comforts and luxuries of the world at his disposal. Apparently, this was not enough to satisfy his gluttonous appetite. One thought persistently irked him, ‘Why did Husain ibn Ali (a.s.) reject his allegiance?’ He dispatched a stern letter addressed to his governor in Madinah - Walid ibn Utbah ibn Abi Sufyan. He informed Walid about Muawiyah’s death and then ordered him:

‘Compel Husain (a.s.), Abdullah ibn Umar and Abdullah ibn Zubair to pay allegiance to me and be very exacting and forceful with them in this regard. Bear in mind that the only way out for them to pay allegiance to me. Peace be upon you.’

Walid was chicken-hearted and indecisive. He was not sure how Yazid’s explicit command could be obeyed in a manner without raising a controversy.

In this moment of uncertainty, Marwan ibn Hakam, the sworn enemy of the AhleBait (a.s.), who had been described by the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) as ‘the accursed son of the accursed (father)’ (Hayaat al-Haywaan Damiri vol. 1, p. 55 from Mustadrakul Hakim) had some typical words of advice. He counseled Walid that he must extract the pledge of allegiance from Imam Husain (a.s.) and if he refused, he must behead him and dispatch his head to Yazid.

Walid summoned Imam Husain (a.s.) to inform him about the developments in Syria. Imam (a.s.) was quick to perceive the repercussions of Yazid’s letter; he quickly vacated Madinah so as not to make it a theatre of assault and bloodshed.

(Tarikh-e-Tabari, vol. 6, p. 106-188)

Imam Husain (a.s.) embarked for Mecca. He instructed his cousin - Hazrat Muslim ibn Aqeel (a.s.) to proceed to Kufa to assess the situation there. Yazid was advised by his counselors that if he wished to secure Kufa, he would have to appoint an authoritarian governor.

For this task, Yazid aptly chose the vicious Ibne Yazid and commanded him to head for Kufa immediately with the clear mandate to apprehend Muslim ibn Aqeel (a.s.).

(Tarikh-e-Tabari, vol. 6, p. 199-200)

Imam Husain (a.s.) arrived at Karbala on 2nd Muharram 61 A.H. Thereafter Umar ibn Sa’d also reached Karbala with clear instructions from Ibne Ziyaad to kill Imam Husain (a.s.). He surrounded Imam (a.s.) from all sides, but sensed no evil or danger from him (a.s.). He wrote to Ibne Ziyaad that he did not find anything sinister in Imam Husain’s (a.s.) motives and therefore wished to return to Kufa. Ibne Ziyaad would have nothing of this - he ordered Umar ibn Sa’d to stay put in Karbala and extract the allegiance for Yazid from Imam Husain (a.s.). Umar replied that Imam Husain (a.s.) would never give his allegiance. Ibne Ziyaad replied that he would not have it any other way except that he puts Imam Husain (a.s.) and his small army to sword.

(Tarikh-e-Tabari, vol. 6, p. 234)

At long last, the world witnessed Imam Husain’s (a.s.) mettle and his steely resolve in the face of hardships and the most inhuman pressure tactics ever employed on a battlefield. He along with his family members and companions were massacred in the most barbaric manner by the evening of Ashoora.

By now the motives behind Imam Husain’s (a.s.) murder must be crystal clear to our readers. Yazid’s ascension to the throne of Syria and his unnecessary pursuit of Imam’s allegiance were the chief circumstances responsible for this tragedy.

Which Islamic sect advocates Yazid’s Caliphate

It is now time to address the more meaningful question - in the realm of Islam which sect considers Yazid’s Caliphate legitimate? As far as the Shias are concerned, they do not accord any worth to Yazid and his Caliphate; let alone Yazid, others far senior to him are not considered worthy of the caliphate that they assumed for themselves. Right from the first link in the chain of caliphate, the Shias have voiced their dissent making it abundantly evident that they have nothing to do with the Caliphs and their actions.

This fact has been adequately highlighted by the esteemed Ahle Sunnah historian - Hafiz Jalaluddin Suyuti in Tarikh al-Khulafa. At the beginning, he states clearly the reasons for compiling the book:

‘In this historical work I have recorded the biographies of those Caliphs who were known as Ameerul Momineen (Commander of the believers) and who were the Caliphs over the Muslims right from the era of Abu Bakr Siddiq (upto now).’

It is apparent from Hafiz Jalaaluddin’s comments that he considered the Caliphate of these individuals as legitimate and the title of Ameeerul Momineen (which they had sought for themselves although it was exclusively for Hazrat Ali (a.s.)) appropriate for them. Surprisingly, in his work, he does not list down the Egyptian Caliphs of Bani Fatimah (Fatimids), because he considers their Caliphate illegitimate:

‘Because their Caliphate was not legitimate for the following reasons.’

He enumerates the main reasons behind omitting their names from the list of legitimate Caliphs:

a)       They were not Quraishi

b)       Many among them were inclined towards apostates, oppressors and atheists i.e. they were not Muslims.

c)       Some of them considered alcohol as permissible.

d)       Even if they were sinless, they commanded the people to abuse the companions.

When such persons assume the mantle of Caliphate, paying allegiance to them cannot be considered correct and their leadership is without any basis.

By exposing his reasons and criteria for rejecting the Caliphs of Bani Fatimid, Hafiz Jalaaluddin Suyuti has opened the proverbial Pandora’s Box. His criteria must now stand scrutiny while enumerating the Caliphs of Bani Umayyah and Bani Abbas. Were these Caliphs not guilty of perpetrating some of the crimes that Hafiz Jalaaluddin Suyuti has listed above?

a)       Did their rule not mark the advent of apostasy, oppression and atheism, thanks to their implicit and often explicit support?

b)       Were alcohol, and even worse homosexuality, not a part of their lifestyles?

c)       Didn’t they consider maligning the companions and even killing them (as in the incident of Harra) as perfectly legitimate?

Nonetheless, it is evident from Hafiz Jalaaluddin Suyuti’s rationale that all the Caliphs enumerated in his book are legitimate in the eyes of the Ahle Sunnah as it corresponds with their teachings and beliefs.

In addition to this, on the 9th page of his book, he records the famous prophetic saying:

‘This religion shall subsist till there exist 12 Caliphs.’

In his exegesis of this tradition, he asserts

‘The Muslims coincided in their view on Abu Bakr (i.e. there was a consensus), then Umar, then Usman, then Ali (a.s.). They then reached a consensus on Muawiya but only after the treaty with Hasan (a.s.), then they agreed upon his son - Yazid…’

As recorded in Sahih-e-Bukhaari, Ibn Hajar-e-Asqaalani has also advanced a similar exegesis of the Holy Prophet’s (s.a.w.a.) tradition. It is apparent from the support that Yazid’s caliphate has received from all quarters in the Ahle Sunnah, that he was a legitimate caliph who had the consensus of the Muslims of his period.

This very Yazid was responsible for killing the beloved grandson of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) - Imam Husain (a.s.) - because he failed to submit to the ‘legitimate’ caliph of his time - Yazid. In other words, those who set out against Imam Husain (a.s.) and killed him and deemed this act to be legitimate are the same people who believed that Yazid was the rightful caliph of the Muslims since he met all the criteria of their religion. It is clear that the teachings of their religion not only raised Yazid to the position of Caliphate, but also brought about Imam Husain’s (a.s.) murder, both of which in their eyes are valid. As we have already reiterated, the Shias have nothing to do with both these events (Yazid’s caliphate and Imam Husain’s (a.s.) killing) and deem both acts to be heinous crimes.

The Creed of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) Killers

1) Umar ibn Sa’d

When Muslim ibn Aqeel (a.s.) arrived in Kufa to take the allegiance of the Shias on behalf of Imam Husain (a.s.), some residents of Kufa reported this development to Yazid. The authors of this letter were Abdullah ibn Muslim ibn Saeed Hazrami, Ammarah ibn Utbah and Umar ibn Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqaas. In the letter, they warned Yazid thus

‘Muslim ibn Aqeel (a.s.) has arrived in Kufa and the Shias have pledged allegiance on behalf of Imam Husain ibn Ali. If you wish to secure Kufa, appoint an authoritarian governor.’

It is with reference to this letter that Yazid wrote to Ibne Ziyaad. The text of the letter is noteworthy:

‘My Shias of Kufa have written to me…’

(Taarikh-e-Tabari vol. 6, p. 199-200)

Readers would have understood by now where Umar ibn Sa’d’s loyalties resided. By writing to Yazid that Shias were pledging allegiance to Imam Husain (a.s.), he had announced his disassociation from them. More importantly, Yazid, in his letter to Ibne Ziyaad proclaims Umar ibn Sa’d as one of his Shias i.e. Umar ibn Sa’d was among those who submitted to Yazid’s Caliphate. An objective analysis will tell the readers to which Islamic sect Umar ibn Sa’d belonged.

2) Ubaydillah ibn Ziyaad

Ibne Ziyaad’s role in Karbala is sufficiently highlighted by his letter to Umar ibn Sa’d:

‘Create obstacles between Husain and his companions on one side and water (i.e. the Euphrates) on the other so that not a single drop of water reaches them. Make them suffer the thirst that the pious, the pure, the oppressed Usman ibn Affan suffered…’

(Taarikh-e-Tabari vol. 6, p. 334)

The same letter with minor changes has been recorded by Abu Hanifa - Ahmad ibn Dawood in ‘Akhbaarut Tiwaal’ Egyptian Edition p. 352.

Now, where are those who consider Imam Husain’s (a.s.) killers Shias? Let them read the historical records of their own historian - Muhammad Ibn Jurair al-Tabari (in his Taarikh) and then determine whether Imam Husain’s (a.s.) killers were Shias.

Which sect mourns the death of Usman ibn Affan? Which sect considers Usman to be pious and pure and the rightful caliph? Which sect considers it legitimate to seek vengeance for Usman’s murder? If they are the Shias, then even we proclaim that the killers of Imam Husain (a.s.) were also the Shias?

3) Ka’b ibn Jaabir

Ka’b ibn Jaabir was a warrior from Umar ibn Sa’d’s army in Karbala. He was the killer of Burair ibn Khozair, one of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) respected companions. After the battle of Karbala, he returned to his house in Kufa with the hope of bagging a reward for his feat. His sister (or wife) - Nuwaar ibn Jaabir, rebuked him for battling against the son of Janabe Fatima Zahra (s.a.) and murdering the Chief of Reciters (Burair). She swore that she would never speak to him again.

At that moment, to explain his stand, Ka’b recited some couplets the meaning of which is worth noting:

‘Have I not executed the task, which grieves you, in the best possible manner? I have shown no slackness in the battlefield while engaging in this mission. I was equipped with a lance and arrow that did not desert me in the battlefield and I had a sword that was very sharp. I drew my sword to engage in battle with a group that practiced a faith different from mine. I have submitted (my faith) to the children of Abu Sufyan. I wish someone would convey my message to Ibne Ziyaad that I am a faithful and obedient servant of the Caliph.’

(Taarikh-e-Tabari vol. 6, p. 247-248)

The words in his poem - ‘that practiced a faith different from mine’ indicates that the religion of Imam Husain (a.s.) and his companions was very different from his own. He followed the creed of Ibne Ziyaad and the children of Abu Sufyan.

4) Muzaahim ibn Haaris

One of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) companions by the name of Naafe ibn Hilaal Jamali used to recite this verse while fighting:

‘I am from Bani Jamal and am on the religion of Ali (a.s.)’.

He soon ran into a wretched person from the other side - Muzaahim ibn Haaris who declared:

‘I am on Usman’s religion’.

Muzaahim gave further proof of his wretchedness by slaying Naafe’ and elevating him to the status of the martyrdom.

(Taarikh-e-Tabari vol. 6, p. 229)

This is another instance in history clearly demarcating the practitioners of both the creeds - those of Usman and those of Hazrat Ali (a.s.). It leaves no doubt in the mind of the student of history that both these paths were as distinct as chalk and cheese and the follower of one path can never be considered as the believer of the other.

5) Amr ibn Hajjaaj

While the Battle of Karbala was being waged, Amr ibn Hajjaaj from Umar ibn Sa’d’s army cried out - ‘O People of Kufa! Be steadfast on the commands of your chief and be firm on the consensus. Do not deviate from the view that we have formed on those who have abandoned the religion and thus disobey the Imam.’

When Imam Husain (a.s.) heard this presumptuous announcement, he retorted,

‘O Amr ibn Hajjaaj! Do you dare to invite the people to wage a battle against me? Have we abandoned the religion while you are firm on it? By Allah! When death overtakes you, you will know who has abandoned religion.’

(Taarikh-e-Tabari vol. 6, p. 249)

Let readers decide the creed denounced by Imam Husain (a.s.). Isn’t it the same creed that considers the transgressing Yazid as a legitimate caliph, opposition to whom resulted in Imam Husain (a.s.) being branded a rebel and a renegade (we seek refuge in Allah)?

These were but a few of the many historical records concerning Imam Husain’s (a.s.) murderers. If these records were penned by Shia historians they would have been subject to accusations of bias and prejudice. But Allah, the Almighty, in His Infinite Wisdom made falsehood itself submit to the truth and so we have the historians from Yazid’s creed penning these historical records that clearly establish the creed of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) killers. We invite those who consider Imam Husain’s (a.s.) killers as Shias, to read the Taarikhe-e-Tabari which is compiled by a follower of Yazid’s caliphate.

At the end, we beseech Allah to hasten the reappearance of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) and to give us the opportunity to join Imam’s (a.t.f.s.) army and avenge the unjust killing of Imam Husain (a.s.).

The Little Sakina

little sakina

This little girl is the daughter of Munna who recites namaz on fire during Ag ka Matam , most of the julooos she accompanies him loyally, dressed in a manner to invoke the pain that Hazrat Imam Hussains 4 year old Sakina had to bear , after the Martyrdom of her beloved father , brothers, relatives , but her sense of guilt was sending her Uncle Hazrat Abbas to fill her water pouch , from the blocked river of Euphrates.
Her Uncle Abbas surrounded by the might of the Ummayad armies till the bitter end..hands dismembered from a brave body, he gripped the water pouch by his jaws, but Arabian cruelty , inhumanness is a genetic trait, they spared him not, the water pouch, like a ripped heart of a little child bled , as the blood of Hazrat Abbas mingled with it, yes this precious parched water pouch we Shias call Mashke Sakina.
Every battle has certain rules, even the worst enemy is shown some form of tolerance, but this is the Tolerance of an unspeakable Ummayad Islam…Hazrat Abbas the warriors head to was decapitated hung on a spear as a war trophy, to be presented to Yazid.
Now remember these glorious fighters are presumably all Namazis, having the Holy Koran on their person, the tazbi… Islamic piety, their enemy a handful, 72 so to speak, the charge of the light brigade is nothing in comparison to Karbala as a battlefield.. the Holy Prophets Inheritance wiped away in a single slash…the Arab world condemns the hanging of Saddam Hussain, he was not given the rightful death, , no dignity in hid death, hoodlums killed him, taunted him, filmed his last moments for posterity and a hungry electronic media… the whole world was up in arms.. protest , everywhere in the Islamic world… revenge killings in Iraq, Pontious Pilate Bush , had already washed his hands they were smelling like roses, he took an extra dose of his sleeping pill, Commander of the US Armed forces…
Like the others I too would condemn the way he was killed, forgetting all his genocide, his inhuman laws that crushed oppositional thought..but for a moment cut back to Karbala.. well the Arabs have already forgotten it, we Shias keep it Alive , year after year , 1400 years a single chant like bellls reminding the world of a greater holocaust, than that carried out by Hitler.
Simly because this is the seed of the Man who gave us a reason to live with Dignity, who gave us the Kalma who bought us out from the wilderness of the Dark Ages, mind you I am not a Koranic scholar or historian, I am a pot of clay, yes I shed drops to show you my pain.. I crack when I am parched, so now you try to see Pain through the eyes of a Shia.. yes we relive it , we call this state on mind Azadari E Hussain , we use symbols, not just rhetoric , so our children, even in their darkest hours, will realise there is no greater pain than that of Imam Hussain.. this is known as Ghame Hussain.
The 10 th day of Moharam is called Ashura the Ultimate sacrifice the Head on a Platter…
but not the Hand…

SHAH AST HUSSAIN BADSHAH AST HUSSAIN
DEEN AST HUSSAIN DEEN PANAH AST HUSSAIN
SURDAD, NADAD DUST DUR DASTE YAZID
HAQQA KE BENAYE LA ILAH AST HUSSAIN

Hussain is the king, indeed he is the king of kings
Hussain is Deen and also the protector of Deen
He gave his head but not his hand of allegiance in the hand of Yazid
Indeed he was the founder (Like his grandfather)
of the concept of One God.

Two months eight days we grieve, our lives colorless, monochromatically shadowed black, I am happy I do not have to filch words from Shia sites this one time.. save the quatrain Shah ast Hussain.
So we go through Ashura , towards Chehlum, to Athvi.. till we realise that the Imam tear eyed too wants t go back to the land od Sorrows Karbala, all the Bibis the children, heads covered crossing the Hindu Kush, little Sakina turning back her head , yes Hazrat abbas will notleave , lying at his Dargah in LUCKNOW , YES HEAR MY SOBS , WE SHIAS TEND TO CRY SUCH IS THE ELOQUENCE OF THE HOLES MADE ON A WATER POUCH CALLED MASHKE SAKINA.. The Fourth Imam too walking unsteadily , chaind that have yet remaind cutting into the flesh of his soul, man can live many lives , but the Fourth Imam lived one Life ..a life that reverbrated the silence of the winds and the sandstorms crying out like a wounded eagle caught in electrical wires of modern times Sham Sham Sham.
Yes Ahle Bait moves the finger, of a wounded hand etching sorrow of our omnipresent pain.
Ya Hussain
Ya Hussain.
I personally a day after Navi started going back , yes Moharam.. starts the day after Navi for me…I am a heretic , I am a Hindu, I am everything , but whatever my greatest sin, even if you doubt the sincerity of my so called Shiasm, unlike yours, I will now confess ,, as the caravan moves away from the vision of my Imagination, I see one Lady , a solitary lady with huge Wings , protecting the caravan her flapping Rida , echoing words that soothe the turbulence of the Winds .. Nade Alliun Mazhbul Ajaib.. yes Janabe Zainab,, the Indomitable sister of Imam Hussain reciting Words without borders…
Yes Janabe Zainab.. the power and strength of an Islamic conviction…
Without her …nothingness.. minarets Azan and nothing else…
Today we see Karbala and Shaam through her Rida..

Cartoons in Blood on the Sands of Karbala
I am hurt and pained my human eyes can take it no more and perhaps I would rather have been born blind so as not see what I dont want to see.
I can assure you I lost all and vision did this to me, I see Hate slaying Love and its not even Halal..not a drop of water to the parched tongue just slash and get it over with..The Muslims the majority talk about Halal and they are talking about the dumb feelings of an animal that is to be sacrificed. and Hussain sacrificed himself and his bunch of followers to save Islam from the progeny of Abu Sufiyan the greatest enemy of The Holy Prophet and Hazrat Ali..and the latter had killed many of his relatives and his best warriors in the battles..before he pledged his hand to Islam.
I am not a Historian, I am not an Islamic teacher..I am unqualified in all this but I am human and that is all that matters and I believe in Allah his Holy Prophet And the Holy Koran and ofcourse the Holy Progeny and Ahle Bait.
I was hurt with the cartoons of the Holy Prophet and say it so again.. but what hurts me more is Islamic Hypocrisy..  Islamic blindfold that only sees what the Mullahs want to show.. I am no follower of todays Mullahs..
The cartoons on the sands of Karbala where wantoness, greed for power, inhuman un halal killings, all the things that the Holy Prophet had preached against were allowed to reign supreme..  the so called Muslims at that time a bunch of brigands and hodlums.. even hoodlums had a code..  spoils of war ..I cant even think about it..  killings , the torture I can forget ..but the misery and the shame when manacled the noble ladies of the Prophets house were robbed of their chadars.. hijab is not just a covering it is the armour of a Muslim woman.. they looted that too..  the brave sister Bibi Zainab of  Hazrat  Imam Hussain stood her might  her Kutbas in the court of Yazid are famous and without Bibi  Zainab there would have been nothing left to talk about Karbala..
With money and power you can buy history , historians and thats what the Saudi Arabians are doing..for 100 years Alis name was not used from th pulpits of Friday Namaaz..  today every unborn Shia child is Ali ..
So the metaphoric  cartoons sketched on the soul on  the sands of Karbala.. in blood by Yazid  his manless fighters is a reminder of Islamic Impotentcy.. blindfoldness of Human Values.
I did not go to protest at Azaad Maidan.. my protest is against my own community..hurts me more, I write this not as a Shia..I am human..breaking glasses of helpless buses, burning of foreign flags, or cursing America is indeed release to pent up and hurt emotions.. but children of the Chosen God.. do an introspection too..the Mullahs will be dead and gone but the generation next is waiting at the threshold of being born.. lets leave some human values for them.. lets not let them down… lets not make cartoon of Truth , Justice and Peace.

Bibi Zainab Indomitable Sister of Hazrat Imam Hussain

I think without Bibi Zainab..Karbala  what it means to us Shias would have been unknown,  though the Oppressors tried to erase the happenings at Karbala ,  with everything at their disposable ,Karbala would not be buried in the Sands.. it rose as a sandstorm.. weeping blood..  the cries of the children reverbrate in the silence of the Ummayad shame..  Karbala is short cut to God.. a just God..  I am not surprised the amounts spent by the oppressors to distort History..they did with brilliant empty hearted Rhetoric.. Karbala lived in the tunes of a barefeet man who wore black and walked on Ashura.. playing the sepulchral Shenai, Karbala lived not because a great Orator recited the happening to the Aazareen from the Mimber, Karbala lived because of the great Mother Bibi Fatima  her covenant with God the Almighty  the birth of a race called Shias who for 1400 years relive the tears that fell on the mute and bruised sands of Karbala..yes we are Heretics, yes we are Infidels , yes we are Kaffirs , call us what you want, yes we are Misguided, according to your preposterous dogmas , so be it..if in our Misguidance we bellieve in the Progeny of the Holy Prophet , we weep , we cry we beat our chests, so be it.. we dont ask you to join us, let us be ,  let us to our omnipresent Pain..your impotent grenades that you lob to shut our lips, does not dent the armoury of our souls.. you cannot flatten the Ya Hussain that gushes out like blood from our bullet wounds..sorry you can kill us but not the cry of our unborn child.. who will be born a Maksade Fatima for a Maksade Hussain..

I dont go to Majlis or listen to the Maulana..  this thought should not be inculcated by other Shias , its my own form of protest, the name of Janabe Zainab I break like earthen pot..  my sorrow wets the dahleez of my existence,  when I think of Bibi Sakina like you I too cry..  the sticky kurta blood stained on the parchment of my own soul,  Ali Asghar when he looked up at heavens and took Harmullah full in the throat.. a Father who watched it all.. yes honestly this is not an enactment of Passion of Jesus Christ.. we never needed to paint ourself with sangunity , Mr Mel Gibson, we were born sanguine..  we bleed real on Ashura, 10 th of Moharram a single drop of blood on the streets of Mumbai that percolates the pain to other parts of the world..  we all carry Karbala.. which outlives even after our Death..

Our Dead to share this sorrow , all lit up with candles on the tombsones, on the Mounds of earth, on Chelum the 40 th day of Moharram..yes we are Shias a ten percent of the majority of our factionalised Race .. but we are 100 percent believers Of Allah.. if that is our Apostasy , let it be, we wont convert you to our thoughts.. let us be ..and yes a million times yes we are Shias because you love to call us so, we are Muslims..when during the reckless riots we are killed by the same sword.. our houses pillaged , our women deprived of all that they stand for.. yes at that time we are counted as Muslims.. and its a misfortune that our blood seeps into the blood of a Tabbliki too.. but this is the way I see life in todays world .. I am not well read but the emotions that make us what we are were always there in our blood..  I write this today.. on the Birthday of Bibi Janabe Zainab the indomitable single Army of Truth and Justice that even Yazid and his minions could not bend..yes I am a Slave of this Great Lady..  I will give you this excuse for branding me a greater Heretic.. through her Rida.. that they snatched a greater crime than drawing Cartoons of The Holy Prophet, the decapitation of the Head of his beloved Hussain, a greater crime than the Cartoon of the Holy Prophet,  so much more but I fear I will start sounding like a Mullah,  I hate Mullah of all breeds..  this is me emptying out my love of Allah ..through the agony of Sham Sham Sham..

After Karbala the womenfolk the lone surviving sickly son of Imam Hussain was taken captive chained , manacled walked all the way from Karbala to Sham present Damscus.. with a 6 year old bibi Sakina daughter of Imam Hussain her father who perished fighting valiantly against Yezids army..a True Martyrdom of Truth to save Islam

below is a text from
http://www.world-federation.org/IEB/IslamicResources/JourneyTears/journ-tear23.htm

When at long last the caravan reached the outskirts of Damascus, a message was received by Umar Sa’ad that the prisoners were not to be brought into the capital until Yezid had completed all the preparations.

Yezid invited all the ambassadors, foreign dignitaries and leading citizens to his court. People were ordered to line up the streets. Musicians were asked to play music and dancers were told to dance in the streets. Such were the festivities organized by the Khalifah for the entry of the grandson and the grand daughters of the Holy Prophet of Islam into what had become the metropolis of the Islamic Empire !!

Surrounded by the dancers, the musicians and the jeering crowds of the citizens of Damascus the prisoners were led toward the palace of Yezid. The ladies who had never stepped outside their homes without their heads and faces being covered, had been forced to travel from Kerbala to Kufa, and Kufa to Shaam bare headed and with their arms tied with a single rope. If any one of them stumbled, she was whipped. Never in the history of Islam had prisoners been treated with disrespect, let alone the cruelty meted out to the members of the Holy Prophet’s house-hold. And now, this ultimate insult of being led into the court of Yezid like a herd of cattle!

Bibi Zainab seemed to be drawing strength from some divine source. She wiped away her tears. Drew her hair over her face so as to hide as much of her face from the staring crowds as she could. Other ladies did the same. Imaam Zain ul ‘Abideen straightened himself. Exuding dignity and confidence, he maintained his position behind the bearer of the lance upon which was mounted his father’s head. Such was the jostle of the multitude thronging the streets that it took them more than twelve hours to traverse the short distance between the city gates and the palace.

They entered the palace and were made to stand in front of Yezid. The tyrant was dressed in his best finery. Imaam Hussain’s head was formally presented to him by Umar ibne Sa’ad. Yezid, with a cup of wine in one hand, ceremoniously accepted the ultimate symbol of his victory and commanded Umar Sa’ad to call out the names of the prisoners..

And then, in his drunken arrogance, Yezid recited a few couplets which enshrine a diabolical confession, a confession that explains the history of the division in Islam and the motives not only his but of his father and grand father in accepting Islam ! He said:

“If my venerable ancestors who fell at Badr fighting Muhammad had witnessed how the supporters of Muhammad’s faith were thrown into confusion with thrusts given with my spears, they would be blessing me today. The Banu Hashim played a trick to win power. There was never any wahi to them nor did they receive any revelation. Today the souls of my ancestors and friends killed by Muhammad at Badr will rest in peace !”

The raison d’etre of the Umayyad dynasty was vengeance against Islam, a sanguine continuation of Uhud where Yezid’d grand-mother had been only partially successful in her determination to have Ali and Hamza killed in retaliation for the deaths of her father and brother at Badr!! Yezid never believed in Islam, and yet the system forced upon the people after the death of the Holy Prophet had resulted in this worst of all the hypocrites becoming the Khalifah of the Holy Prophet and the Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen of the ummah !!

Yezid looked at the prisoners lined up in front of him. He said: “It has pleased Allah to grant us victory! Look how He has caused the death of Hussain and humiliated his family!” He then recited an ayah of the Holy Quraan which means ‘Allah grants honour to whom He pleases and brings disgrace upon whom He pleases.’

There were over seven hundred dignitaries sitting in the Court. They smiled and nodded approvingly. Bibi Zainab could stand it no more! She was filled with wrath. How dare this unclean man say such things? How dare he with his najis tongue recite from Holy Quraan ? How dare he make mockery of the family of the Holy Prophet? In a loud and clear voice Bibi Zainab said:

“O Yezid! Do you think that it is Allah who has caused you to commit all these foul deeds? Do you blame the Rahman and the Rahim for the oppression we have suffered? Do you blame Allah for the death of the beloved grand son of his most beloved Prophet? How dare you make these false accusations against the Almighty? No, Yezid, it was not Allah! It is you, with your insatiable ambition and greed for wealth and power, who are the only cause of the suffering inflicted not only upon the household of the Holy Prophet but on Islam itself!

Do not forget what Allah has said in the Holy Book: Let not the unbelievers take it that the respite We give them would do them any good. We allow them time in order that they might continue to indulge in sin to their hearts’ content. Indeed a humiliating punishment has been kept ready for them.

Do you think that by killing the grandson of the Holy Prophet and bringing us to your palace as prisoners, you have scored a victory against Islam? No, Yezid, no ! Hussain with his blood has made sure that tyrants like you will not be able to use Islam as a toy to carry out their evil designs. The victory is not yours. The victory is of Hussain! The victory is of Islam!”

Yezid was stunned! The people present there could not but be moved by what this courageous lady had to say. This lady, who had seen and experienced great suffering, dared today defy the very man who had inflicted those sufferings. Who was she? They asked one another. When they learnt that she was the grand daughter of the Holy Prophet, their hearts began to fill with admiration!

In an effort to save the situation Yezid turned towards Imaam Zain ul ‘Abideen and said: “Well you can tell us who has been victorious. Imaam looked at him and replied:

“Yezid, final victory can only belong to those on the right path. Let us look at you and look at Hussain. My father, whom you got killed so mercilessly, was the grandson of the Holy Prophet who had said that “Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain”. He was born a Muslim and all his life he upheld the laws and principles of Islam. You are the grandson of Abu Sufiyan and Hinda, who most of their lives fought Islam and the Holy Prophet!”

Yezid was now greatly embarrassed. To silence the Imaam he asked his muezzin to recite the adhaan. When the Muezzin cried out ‘ASH-HADU ANNA MUHAMMADAR-RASOOLILLAH’ Imaam Zain ul ‘Abideen, addressing Yezid, said, “Yezid speak the truth! Was Muhammad my grandfather or your grandfather!”

Yezid ordered the prisoners to be moved to a prison. This was not a prison. It was a dungeon! Only a part of it had any sort of ceiling. The rest was open to the sky. An iron grill surrounded the place so that no one could get in or out.

Bibi Zainab reports that the place was so cold at nights that no one could have proper sleep. During the day, it got hot like an oven. It is here that our fourth Imaam, still under chains, the ladies and the children spent many days of great agony and discomfort

Janabe Zainab And The Killing fields of Karbala

my own

Janabe Zainab was the indomitable, and a very courageous , eloquently vocal sister of Hazrat Imam Hussain..and she was the witness to the carnage and saw all her beloved male members of her family die before her eye including her children Ono and Mohomed..and she never wept once for her them.

She put a stone on her maternal instincts so caught up she was in the decimation of her beloved brothers Hussains family.. she wept for Ali Asghar.. when Harmulla shot the childs neck with an arrow.. enough to kill a wild beast. and the arrow stuck to the Imam after it had splintered the six month childs throat.

She wept for Kassim the son of Imam Hassan whose body was cut into pieces and trampled by horses on the killing fields of Karbala…

She wept and mourned for all the brave warriors of the Imam ,be it John or Habib Mazahir..and other brave men who had taken refuge to save The Imam when all others had fled knowing that the end was a conclusion in death and deprivation against the military trained and superbly armed army of Yazid…the Scourge of the Ummayads.

She wept the most for Ali Akbar the 18 year old son of Imam Hussain who she had bought up as a child making flour on the grinding stone.. to feed him thus., this was her son too.

She wept for Abbas Alamdar ..for only this brave protector of the House of The Prophet was capable of taking on the mightiest of warrior and he was not there at the Court of the Yazid when the women and children including the six year old Sakina manacled and made to walk from Karbala to Damascus.. and a sickly son of the Imam lone male survivor Zainul Abedeen…

She wept for Imam Hussain when she saw him fall from the horse on 10th Ashura , and when Shimr leapt over the Imams chest to decapitate him with a blunt daggar..and this s not a fairy tale, but Truth that was trampled , decapitated, was destroyed in the name of Islam

This was where the seeds of present day Terrorism were sown,. flowered into Talibisation of Hate , Bigotry,  this was the cartoons drawn in blood by the powers to be and Islam was shamed for ever, Yazid is reborn spreading his canard ..bombing Sammarah..maiming, looting, plundering good sense all in the name of Allah..

America loots us today they say ,but we had already become orphaned when we were looted by our own kind in the guise and garb of Islam and the killing fields of Karbala.
