Marziya and The House Imambada
The House Imambada is the cornerstone of faith in a Shia family house.
Some house Imambadas are complete rooms , some are just a niche in the wall ..
Hyderabad Lucknow have some memorable house Imambadas.
My friend Talib Rizvis house Imambada at Worli is visited by the general Shia public too including senior police officers who have found solace and peace of mind through the bounty of Imam Hussain.
Our house Imambada is a long wooden cabinet and has silver alams that are heirlooms of my paternal grandmother Khurshed Baji.. For Marziya this is her place of peace too..
Each morning she stand near the Imambada and head bowed will talk to God with words like Dada Ko De which means give Give my grand father she does not complete the sentence as God is aware of my needs more than anyone else.. .. yes Marziya knows my pain , more than anyone being gifted she is aware of my shortcomings too.
Every house Imambada is the history of a house its ups downs upheavals short bouts of success..happiness whatever.
I have shot some unique house Imambadas of old families in Lucknow all at Flickr..
The Nawabs of Hyderabad their house Imambadas are lavish like those of Hussain Kothi.. which are opened out to the people during Moharam celebrations.
My maternal grand mother Nazmi Begum widow of Daroga Nabban Saab descendant of poet Mir Anis kept a very simple house Imambada..after her husbands death in Lucknow.
