With this picture I finally bring to an end the documentation of a day in a Shia Mumbaikars life..a single day that connects all Shias. the Kurla Juloos 2009 a storyboard of 353 pictures at my Flickr photostream.

The strength of our society is the Shia women, the Shia mother , I have with respect to their privacy tried to show you their untiring spirit, these brave mothers , holding on to their young ones come from far suburbs to be a part of our Shia ethos..

Without the Shia mother there is no Shiasm per se.. she is the source of our faiths enlightenment. She epitomizes the motherhood of another mother , the mother of us all Bibi Fatima the mother of Hassan and Hussain, and her desolate garden of her motherhood..

This time I shot the mother with Zuljana many frames , her bond with an animal that represents the steed of Imam Hussain, who stood by his Master , while people of his masters community were baying for his blood..
Yes this is the flip side of our Islamic ethos..

After a Rip Van Winkle slumber a Jamiat body gives a statement in this mornings Times of India dtd Feb10 2009, Suicide attacks by terrorists in the name of Islam are unIslamic.

“Killing of of innocents is against the principles of Islam,and all kinds of Fedayeen, and all kinds of suicide attacks are unIslamic..”

Brave words , but yet the killing of Imam Hussain, was it Islamic?
He too was killed by the adherents of Islam, he was killed by the highest authority of Islam , the Caliph Yazid of the Ummayad Dynasty..
What was Imam Hussains fault?

What crimes did he commit that such a harsh punishment was given to him, this is lopsided Islamic Justice as it prevailed in Yazids time..

Arab barbarism of the worst kind that theShias bring to the fore by their rituals, by their hosting of matam , majlis ., which is conveniently given a label of heresy, nobody wants to be reminded of this holocaust, according to some it never existed , Karbala and the wanton deeds of Yazid are supposed to be the figment of Shia minds , according to the puritans.
Their greatest enemy is not America or JUdaism , it is the power of a bleeding head , not of a terrorist not a fedayeen but a Shia ..Matamdar

This is Shiasm .. in a nutshell and beyond.

A fight a protest against terrorism within a fractured frame work..a terrorism that has been shamelessly glorified as Jihad all these years..

Allah Ho Akbar dotted in a net of misguided dissemination, a cry of prayer turned into a cry of Hate by petro powered Shia hate websites.

Now after this I shall climb the mountains of Haji Malang to shoot the Sufi ethos that touches the Rafaees , the hijdas and transgenders of India..

A Muslim Dargah served by the Hindu Mujawirs the Ketkar family.

The finest example of Hindu Muslim amity in India.

The Urus started yesterday but my health and work commitment held me back..

I shall miss my American mentor photographer friend Dr Glenn Losack MD// who shot this last year..including Chhlum in Mumbai 2008.

Yes Shiasm is my main favorite pictorial subject closest to my heart , but as a blog photo journalist I shoot all religions united within the colorful tapestry of diversity , seen through a kaleidoscope of my mother country India.
