Shia Shabbarat Wiladat e Imame Zamana

Shia Shabbarat Wiladat e Imame Zamana

Yesterday was the Shia and the Sunni Shabbarat.
The Sunnis normally head to the graveyard and to the various Dargahs for a holy vigil all
night and prayers in their Mosques .My staff is all Sunni so I shut shop very early at about 5pm.The other guy who works for me is a Hindu , he did not come to work because of Raksha Bandhan.
I was at home all evening; wife had made Halwa Puri, as this day is the Shia All Souls Day.
We remember our ancestors are near and dear ones who left us this great heritage
that we call Hussainiyat.
Also on this day the Shias celebrate the birthday of the 12 Imam the Mahdi.
Prayers are offered at the graves, I did not go this time to the cemetery.
But at 4.30 am wife and I with my Nikon F100 my Manfrotto monopod headed towards
town, to the pier at Gateway of India , this was my wife Afshaan ‘s first visit in 31 years,
strangely though we stayed at Colaba at my parents house , none of us had ever visited
the pier to watch an event called Bajra.
Bajra means a boat, that florally decked comes to the pier with sweets called Nazar, that you taste, the entire area is jam packed , but as I had left my wife in the ladies section, I came to the pier steps took shots on negatives, later when the boat arrived I entered in took shots of the tasting of the Nazar.
There was a heavy Police Bandobust , due to the blasts in Hyderabad, I was very simply dressed , as I did not want to end up in the local cop station with my wife in tow.
The Shias also come to the pier , to place Arzis in the water, Arzis are papers with prayers on which you write your requests, mix it in flour to be fed to the fishes., to ultimately reach the Imam of our Times , whom we call Imam E Zamana.
We returned home at 7 am, I missed my digital camera so I am posting this with an old picture. The negs will go for processing..
I was shooting pictures after a very long time, my photo stream I fear will look more like Dr Glenn Losacks than my own, but I am humbled that he allows me to post the pictures that he has shot with a true love for my country and its people. His beggar pictures have warmth, they do not insult or humiliate man, but society .We who have turned our backs on our own, the rich become richer the poor they live to die .I don’t think I can shoot pictures like Dr Glenn Losack, I do not have his vision, nor his eye I don’t even have a digital camera. Not having a digital camera is a blessing I am no more trigger happy…I shoot picture on the emulsion of my soul sans camera.

He is the last of the Holy Infallible Imams of the people on earth and with him the fine of succession to The Holy Prophet(pbuh&hf) now ends.

He is still, by The Will of Allah(swt), living in this world of ours, but does not appear in the public sight.

He will re-appear to all Mankind only by The Command of God(swt) towards the last days of the Human Civilization at a time when the world will become unbearablely full of injustice and imorality.

The Imam(as) will appear and will:

Crush all kinds of Oppression from any quarter
Restore God’s Law and Order and make Justice once again prevail supreme.
The Holy Prophet(pbuh&hf) and the all other Eleven Imams(as) have said that the Imam AI-Mehdi(as) will live until he has full control of the whole wide world, and make Justice prevail and will do away with all kind of tyranny.

He will re-establish the Islamic Religion and make it prevail even though the Paganist and the unbelivers will all dislike and object to his cause violently.

His name is the same as that of The Holy Prophet Mohammad Al-Mustafa(pbuh&hf)

He is the son of the Eleventh Holy Imam(as)

He was born in Samarrah in 256/868 and until 260/872 when his father was martyred, lived under his father’s care and tutelage. He was hidden from public view and only a few of the elite among the Shia were able to meet him.
After the martyrdom of his father he became the Imam(as) and by Divine.Command went into Ghaybat(Occultation) .

Thereafter he appeared only to his Na’ib (deputies) and even then only in exceptional circumstances.

——————————————————————————–
The lmam(as) chose as a special deputy for a time, Uthman Ibin Sa’id Umari, one of the companions of his father and Grandfather(as) who was his confidant and trusted friend. Through his deputy the Imam would answer the demands and questions of the Shia.
After Uthman Ibin Sa’id, his son Muhammad Ibin Uthman Umari was appointed the deputy of the Imam(as).

After the death of Muhammad ibn Uthman, Abul Qasim Hussain Ibin Ruh Nawbakht was the special deputy, and after his death Ali Ibin Muhammad Simmari was chosen for this task.

A few days before the death of Ali Ibin Muhammad Simmari in 329/939 an order was issued by the Imam(as) stating that in six days Ali Ibin Muhammad Simmari would die.

Henceforth the special deputation of the Imam(as) would come.to an end and the Ghaybat Al-Kubra (Major Occultation) would begin and would continue until the day God grants permission to the Imam(as) to manifest himself.

The Occultation of the Twelfth Imam(as)
This Is divided into two parts
The First, the Ghaybat Al-Sughra
The Minor Occultation
Which began in 260/872 and ended in 329/939, lasting about seventy years

The Second, the Ghaybat Al-Kubra
The Major Occultation
Which commenced in 329/939 and will continue as long as God wills it.
In a hadeeth upon whose authenticity everyone agrees, The Holy Prophet(pbuh&hf) had said,

“If there were to remain in the life of the world but one day,
God would prolong that day until He sends in it a man from my community and my Household.
His name will be the same as my name.

He will fill the earth with Equity and Justice as it was filled with oppression and tyranny.”

Malang in Chains -A Tragedy Remembered

This explanation is to a picture shot by Glenn Losack at the Dargah NizamuddinAulia of a Malang or Sufi ascetic in chains..He wanted me to say it poetically too.
After the battle of Karbala hen Imam Hussain and all his braves were Martyred , the bodies were stripped of their belongings, heads decapitated placed atop spears , horses were made to run over what remained of the headless corpses.
72 heads on spears.
Yazids bloodthirsty Muslim army then moved towards the ladies tents, burnt all that remained, looted and pillaged.
Among the male survivors was the sickly son of Imam Hussain, whom they had spared as the sickly are not supposed to be killed , the only saving grace in an early Arab Geneva convention..
All the women and children including g the sickly son Zainul Abedin or the Fourth Shia Imam was thus made captives and made to walk from Karbala to Sham or Damascus in heavy chains.
At Damascus the vandals unveiled the ladies of the Imams house; incidentally they were all aware that Imam Hussain was the grandson of the Holy Prophet.
They were thus presented worse than common criminals at the Court of Yazid..the only one who stood up against Yazid the Caliph of the Ummayad Caliphate was Bibi Zainab the Indomitable sister of Imam Hussain. In Islam one thing that Allah does not condone is the abusive treatment of women. So when all this got over after imprisonment Yazid released the prisoners to go back to Karbala bury the dead and proceed to Madina their hometown..
The pioneer of the Shia mourning , the wailing was Bibi Zainab, she narrated the Tragedy of Karbala. The tragic month revisted Moharam,
When the Fourth Imam was asked in Life where he suffered most..
He burst out crying Sham Sham Sham.
This Glenn Losack, was the heaviest chains on a mans soul, the Imam could bear everything but not the snatching of the Veils the Ridas of the noble ladies.
This is the real meaning of the Hijab, when to hide their shame the ladies covered their faces with their hair.
This Shiasm, Shiite Shias the core belief bound to a 1400 year pain of a martyred Imam Hussain..
This is what a present somnolent conscience of Islam does not want be reminded of , this is the forbearer to modern Jehadi Terrorism a brain child of Yazid.. this is what we call Yazidiyat.
Following the footsteps of Imam Hussain is called Hussainiyat.
And the couplet at the Shrine of Khwaja Moinddin Chishty..

THE fourteenth century Sufi saint , Khwaja Moinuddin chisti remarks in one of his famous ‘rebayees ‘ :
“Shah ast Hussain , Baadshah ast Hussain
Deen ast Hussain, Deen panah ast Hussain
Sar dad no daad dast dar dast-e-Yezid
Haq ke bena la -ila ast Hussain .”
Loosely translated , the couplet would mean:
‘ A rular is Hussain , an emperor is Hussain.
Faith is Husain , guardian of faith is Hussain .
He offered his head and not the hand to Yezid.
Truly, Allal’s true mirror of faith is Hussain ‘.
Moinuddin Chisti was referring of course to Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammed..

So now my poem
The Malang of Ajmer at the Shrine of Nizamuddin Aulia
Bound in chains reminds the world of a pain
The agony the shame faced by the women
At Damascus the court of Yazid after Imam Hussain was slain
Snatched Ridas from their head as they covered their faces
With their hair this was Yazidi Islam traditons values
A black page of Islamic shame eunuched bystanders
A greater pain and a refrain
Sham Sham Sham cried the Fourth Imam
Greater than any blood stain..
Live like Ali Die like Hussain
The Shia Resurgence
that explains
A malang in chains ..
cries invoking
Ya Hussain
Ya Hussain

Wiladat Hazrat Qasim

The antoganists do not ike to be reminded of this one black chapter of Islam, and through their own blood shedding the Shias bring this out during Moharam all over the world proclaiming..
Shah ast Hussain , Baadshah ast Hussain
Deen ast Hussain, Deen panah ast Hussain

Hazrat Qasim

Hazrat Qasim was the youngest son of Imaam Hassan (A.S.). Qasim was born in 47 A.H., three years before his father was martyred. When Imaam Hussain prepared to leave Madina in the month of Rajab 60 A.H. Qasim mother Umme-e-Farwa asked Imaam Hussain to take her and Qasim with him. Imaam Hussain agreed. Hazrat Qasim, although only 13 years old, had, like his cousins Aun and Muhammad, learnt fencing from Hazrat Abbas and Hazrat Ali Akber. Hazrat Abbas was very fond of Hazrat Qasim.

On the night before Ashura when Imaam Hussain was passing by Umm-e-Farwa’s tent he heard Qasim say to his mother, “Mother, tomorrow Uncle Abbas, Ali Akber and I will defend Imaam Hussain. Mother, if I get killed please do not weep for me.” Umm-e-Farwa replied, “My son although I dearly love you, I shall not weep for you. Nothing will make me prouder than to see my son give his life for Islam”. When Imaam Hussain heard this conversation he prayed to Allah to bless Hazrat Qasim and Umm-e-Farwa.

On Ashura day after Aun and Muhammad had fallen in the battlefield, Hazrat Qasim came to Imaam Hussain and begged for permission to go and fight. Twice Imaam Hussain refused saying “Qasim you are young and your mother’s only son”. Hazrat Qasim was very disappointed. He went to his mother. When she saw her son so disappointed she remembered that just before he died, Imaam Hassan had written a letter, given it to Umm-e-Farwa saying ,”If ever you find Qasim in difficulty, give him this letter.” She gave Hazrat Qasim the letter. In the letter it was written, “My son Qasim, a day will come when my brother Hussain will be facing an enemy army of tens of thousands. That will be the day when Islam will need to be saved by sacrifice. You must represent me on that day.”

Hazrat Qasim read the letter. He smiled. He rushed to Imaam and gave him the letter. After reading the letter Imaam Hussain said, “O my brother’s son, how can I stop you from doing what your father wanted you to do. Bismillah, go. Allah be with you”.

Imaam Hussain tied Imaam Hassan’s turban on the head of Hazrat Qasim and helped him mount his horse. As Qasim was riding out, Imaam Hussain said “Inna Lilla-hi Wa Inna Ilai-hi Raji’oon”. Hazrat Qasim said “O my uncle - Do not be upset. I do not fear death. Death for Islam will be sweeter for me than honey”. Hazrat Qasim came to the battle field. He was a very handsome boy. When the enemy saw him, they began to murmur, “How can we kill someone whose face is shining like moon?”

In a loud and a clear voice Hazrat Qasim introduced himself and cried out a challenge for single combat. He killed several famous warriors who came forward.

Every time he felled an enemy Hazrat Qasim would stand on his stirrups, look behind and wave to Hazrat Abbas, just as a pupil would seek approval of his teacher on any assignment, Hazrat Abbas would proudly wave back. When the enemy saw his bravery and realized that they could not possibly over power him in single combats, they came from behind and one of them hit Hazrat Qasim on the head with a sword.

Hazrat Qasim tried to go on fighting but alas he was so young and he was so very thirsty! He fell from his horse crying out, “YA AMMAHO, ACCEPT MY LAST SALAAMS.” Imaam Hussain and Hazrat Abbas rode out. The soldiers tried to stop them, when finally they came to where Hazrat Qasim had fallen they saw a dreadful sight!! Hazrat Qasim’s body had been trampled by the horses of the soldiers who had tried to stop Imaam Hussain and Hazrat Abbas. Hazrat Abbas was so angry when he saw this that he began to shake with fury. He took out his sword and wanted to attack the enemy. Imaam Hussain restrained him saying “Abbas, have patience, dear brother. Do not give them an excuse for saying that we attacked them first”.

Was Qasim body carried to the camp to his mother? This is not very clear. It is reported, however, that Imaam Hussain took off his abaa, spread it on to the ground, gathered the pieces from the ground as one gathers flowers from a garden!

Wiladat Imam Hussain

The Shias all over the world celebrate the birthday of Imam Hussain erstwhile grandson of our Holy Prophet .But a strange thought though the Shias celebrate the Willadat of Imam Hussain today they celebrate his Martyrdom everyday, celebrate in the context of mourning.
Yes every land is Karbala every Heart is Ashura.
I wanted to write this piece last night, but some how it was not ready for gestation, it did not happen while I sat at home posting my pictures at Flickr.
I have just opened shop, I was asking Asif Shakir my eldest son about some quote on Imam Hussain different from we have read and he said go to ezoftech..
But I think I shall write through the guidance of my Heart .
I am not a hard core Shia at all, I keep harping about my Shiasm, that has been nascent, not aggressive, I lived in a cosmopolitan society with the Hindus, Christians Parsis Sikhs and people of diverse Faith.
For me my religion is something personal and not a badge stuck as an armband.
The Shia resurgence of my soul happened a few years back despite my wife and children being overtly and most importantly better Shias than me , but never did they exert their religiosity on my multi colored human camera like consciousness..
I dressed and did look , and do look , like a Hindu ascetic, this was my effervescent Sartorial Spirituality.
I dabbled in the stream of all religious thought but I am a Shia born and Shiasm is my birthright a nationalistic fervor connected to the fragrance of the land I live.
I do not wish to sound Shia , but one thought troubles me being a moderately liberal Indian Muslim, and it is not Anti Islam it is anti “anti Humanity.”
When the genocide and the carnage was happening at Karbala , and Imam Hussain not an unknown figure but the scion of the Holy Prophet should be so shabbily treated , shocks me of the kind of Muslims that lived within the fold of Yazidi Islam.
Not a single voice raised, not a protest, just silent acceptance of misdeeds, read my words carefully, and realize what I am applying to modern day protesting Islam.
Cartoon s of the Holy Prophet full throated protestations, justifiably so, Salman Rushdie, Taslima Nasrin, tattoos of the Holy Scriptures on the back of a Dutch model.. justifiably so yet the body of Islam.. souled in Saudi Arabia and fleshed out in other countries keeps silent at the continuous killing of Muslims by Muslims killing of other communities in the name of Islam..
What are we trying to prove ?
At Karbala the same situation existed in Islam?
Yazid may have thought he was justified in destroying the goodwill of Imam Hussain , he was no ideal Caliph, the first supreme Terrorist, he had his Jehad, and it continued unabated against the follwers of Ali the Shias.
Today Allah Ho Akbar surfed on the net, brings to you the sectarian Gospel of Hate.. hate for everything that is Shia Shiasm Shi Shiite ..?
So what has really changed, mind you I don’t borrow verses from scriptures to prove my point.
The Arab barbarism is the heritage of contemporary Islam ,kill kill, be counted in Paradise that is why the rogue Mullahs don’t want Muslims to educate themselves, and strange even the most educated Kafeel Ahmed lost out at the end of the day.
A man in Hyderabad says behead Taslima Nasrin, I am not shocked the majority followers of Islam justified beheading even in the days of Hazrat Ali and later his son Imam Hussain. There was no one to behead Yazid..
Imagine taking a sword and cutting of a mans neck while he was in prayers in the Mosque. Imagine on the hot and dusty sands of Karbala people who also prayed Namaz , fasted, followed the religion propagated by the Holy Prophet had no qualms in slaying his favorite Grandson or his family.
Yes the Shia is a better Islamist any day, whether he sheds blood , scourges himself, cuts his forehead all considered heresy, except killing of innocent people, kidnapping of Koreans, planting bombs in trains, 9/11 7/ 11 all these are pardonable for the greater glory of a marginalized Islam..
The Lal Masjid, Abdul Aziz is only a tip of the iceberg..
We have to wake up from our religiously flavored drug induced sleep..
Yes I have nothing more to say.. today I celebrate Wiladat e Imam Hussain
But Everyday is Ashura..Every land is Karbala ..

Wiladat Bibi Zainab

I think without Bibi Zainab..Karbala what it means to us Shias would have been unknown, though the Oppressors tried to erase the happenings at Karbala , with everything at their disposable ,Karbala would not be buried in the Sands.. it rose as a sandstorm.. weeping blood.. the cries of the children reverbrate in the silence of the Ummayad shame.. Karbala is short cut to God.. a just God.. I am not surprised the amounts spent by the oppressors to distort History..they did with brilliant empty hearted Rhetoric.. Karbala lived in the tunes of a barefeet man who wore black and walked on Ashura.. playing the sepulchral Shenai, Karbala lived not because a great Orator recited the happening to the Aazareen from the Mimber, Karbala lived because of the great Mother Bibi Fatima her covenant with God the Almighty the birth of a race called Shias who for 1400 years relive the tears that fell on the mute and bruised sands of Karbala..yes we are Heretics, yes we are Infidels , yes we are Kaffirs , call us what you want, yes we are Misguided, according to your preposterous dogmas , so be it..if in our Misguidance we bellieve in the Progeny of the Holy Prophet , we weep , we cry we beat our chests, so be it.. we dont ask you to join us, let us be , let us to our omnipresent Pain..your impotent grenades that you lob to shut our lips, does not dent the armoury of our souls.. you cannot flatten the Ya Hussain that gushes out like blood from our bullet wounds..sorry you can kill us but not the cry of our unborn child.. who will be born a Maksade Fatima for a Maksade Hussain..

I dont go to Majlis or listen to the Maulana.. this thought should not be inculcated by other Shias , its my own form of protest, the name of Janabe Zainab I break like earthen pot.. my sorrow wets the dahleez of my existence, when I think of Bibi Sakina like you I too cry.. the sticky kurta blood stained on the parchment of my own soul, Ali Asghar when he looked up at heavens and took Harmullah full in the throat.. a Father who watched it all.. yes honestly this is not an enactment of Passion of Jesus Christ.. we never needed to paint ourself with sangunity , Mr Mel Gibson, we were born sanguine.. we bleed real on Ashura, 10 th of Moharram a single drop of blood on the streets of Mumbai that percolates the pain to other parts of the world.. we all carry Karbala.. which outlives even after our Death..

Our Dead to share this sorrow , all lit up with candles on the tombsones, on the Mounds of earth, on Chelum the 40 th day of Moharram..yes we are Shias a ten percent of the majority of our factionalised Race .. but we are 100 percent believers Of Allah.. if that is our Apostasy , let it be, we wont convert you to our thoughts.. let us be ..and yes a million times yes we are Shias because you love to call us so, we are Muslims..when during the reckless riots we are killed by the same sword.. our houses pillaged , our women deprived of all that they stand for.. yes at that time we are counted as Muslims.. and its a misfortune that our blood seeps into the blood of a Tabbliki too.. but this is the way I see life in todays world .. I am not well read but the emotions that make us what we are were always there in our blood.. I write this today.. on the Birthday of Bibi Janabe Zainab the indomitable single Army of Truth and Justice that even Yazid and his minions could not bend..yes I am a Slave of this Great Lady.. I will give you this excuse for branding me a greater Heretic.. through her Rida.. that they snatched a greater crime than drawing Cartoons of The Holy Prophet,or the decapitation of the Head of his beloved Hussain, , so much more but I fear I will start sounding like a Mullah, I hate Mullah of all breeds.. this is me emptying out my love of Allah ..through the agony of Sham Sham Sham..
