I was standing near my father in law Abbas Qasim Qazilbash’s shop called Diamond Cassettes ,when a person dressed in black approached me , he was the owner of the property where my father in laws shop is stuated, he asked me to come and shoot his house Imambara, the Alam is about 1100 years old..the oldest heirlooms from Karbala, including the soil that his forefathers had bought from there..
It seemed strange I told him, that though we did not know each other , yet his House Imambara is going to be seen by all you guys on the Internet..so some pictures become links , you sitting out there are now in this mans house , normally he would not allow you, as the House Imambara is the ladies domain..Zenana as we call it..
I could not post the twelve alams on the wall as they did not fit in my lens..
I also do not remember his name .
But even in Hyderabad I visited several houses of Nawabs , their House Imambaras are trips down memory lane ..old heirlooms, Alams given to their forefathers for bravery by the erstwhile rulers the Nizams of Hyderabad..
Unfortunately all this is on negatives I have not yet scanned , its an exppensive task, tedious too but I have a treasure trove that you wont find on Google Search either..as a photographer I shot with the sensitivity of a poet, I let pictures burn on the CDs of your consciousness.
At the moment I am at my shop waiting for my Belgian photographer friend Marc de Clerq to arrive, I spoke to Laxmi she leaves for Amsterdam to attend the Transgender festival and the screening of her film Between the Lines shot in Koovagam Koothandavar Eunuch feast.
Lucky Laxmi Narayan Tripathi.
I think all of us bloggers or celebrity journalists should share our contents so that a larger readership gets access to it, sometimes just making money is not Adsense of a common sense..bu twe all want to make extra bucks we should.
I too would like to as I desperately need to buy a new camera..I spoke to Vinay Paralkar who bought a high end Canon , the camera has given him lots of problems he is planning to switch bak to Nikon.. so the Camera wars continue we the consumer suffer raped at both ends by Canon and by Nikon..
It still hot in Mumbai..

From Wikipedia
Azadari (Persian : عزاداری) means mourning. Azadari of Moharram means mourning for Imam Husayn ibn Ali , his family and companions. This tradition is commemorated every year on the Tenth of Muharram- known as Day of Ashura by Shias also called Azadars or Azadar-e-Husayn.

Azadari was started by the household of Prophet Muhammad(p) (Ahl-ul-Bayt)(p)after the martyrdom of Imam Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad(p) at the Battle of Karbala in the year 61 AH (AD 680) by the Yazidi forces.

Zaynab bint Ali(p) the granddaughter of Prophet Muhammad(p) and daughter of Ali ibn Abu Talib(p) started azadari to tell the people about the atrocities occurred in Karbala on the people of the household and the sacrifices made by Imam Ḥusayn ibn Ali(p) for the cause of Islam

Zaynab bint Ali(p)exposed the evil deeds of Ibn-Ziyad and Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph. through her bold and fearless speeches she gave on her journey to medina after the Battle of Karbala.

Imam Zayn al-Abideen(p) also propagated the message of the “Husaini Revolution” by his historical sermons and speeches delivered in Iraq, Syria and Hejaz.

The word spread that Yazid has martyred Prophet Muhammad’s (p) grandson Husayn ibn Ali and all 72 of his companions including his 6 months old son Ali Asghar(p), and the women and children were taken prisoners to Syria.

Word came to Yazid that there was turmoil and unrest in the realm he decided to release the Family members (Ahl-ul-Bayt)(p). He sent for Imam Ali ibn Husayn(p) known to Muslims as Imam Zain-ul-Abideen(p) and shia often refer to him as Imam Sajjad. He informed the Imam of his impending release and asked if he wished for anything. Imam Zain-ul-Abideen(p) said he would have to consult with his aunt. Zaynab binte Ali(p)asked Yazid to provide a place where the family and the people who come to visit them can mourn for Imam Husayn and other members of the Prophet’s Household. A house was therefore provided in Syria (Sham) and here Zaynab binte Ali(p) held the first Majalis-e-Aza of Imam Husayn(p) and started Azadari.

The women of the Syria (Sham) arrived clad in black, with their heads uncovered, weeping wretchedly. Imam Zain-ul-Abideen(p) sat on the carpet of Imam Husayn(p) and then bibi Zainab (p) told the women of Syria what had befallen upon them in Karbala and Kufa. They shed tears and mourned. She vowed that Majalis-e-Aza and Azadari for Imam Husayn(p) will begin from the same house of yazid who ordered the Imam to be butchered. After returning to Medina when the people wanted to invite Zaynab binte Ali(p) on any occasion, the only way to invite her was organize Majalis-e-Aza of Imam Ḥusayn(p). [1]

[edit] Majalis-e-Aza
The word Azadari and Majalis-e-Aza has been exclusively used in connection with the remembrance ceremonies for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain. Majalis-e-Aza also known as Aza-e-Husayn includes mourning congregations, lamentations, matam and all such actions which express the emotions of grief and above all, repulsion against what Yazid stood for.

The term majalis has both a grammatical meaning and a meaning which relates to Aza-e-Husayn. In its technical sense, a majalis is a meeting, a session or a gathering. In reference to Aza-e-Husayn, it means a gathering to mourn Imam Husayn(p) In this sense it was first used by the sixth Imam, Ja’far Sadiq(p). It is reported that his companion al-Fudhayl Ibne Yasaar came to pay his respects to the Holy Imam. After the exchange of usual courtesies, Imam asked al-Fudhayl: “Do you people ever organise majalis to recall the martyrdom of Imam Hussain?” Al-Fudhayl, with tears pouring down his eyes, replied: “Yabna Rasulillah, indeed we do.” The Imam said: “May Allah bless you. I highly approve of such majalis.” [2]

Shia also resite ALLAHUMMA SALLI ALA MUHAMMADIN WA ALA ALI MUHAMMAD various times during azadari and whenever the name of Prophet Muhammad(p)and his household (Ahl-ul-Bayt)(p) is mentioned. It means “O Allah, please shower your blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad. The family is referred to as Ahl-ul-Bayt
